acla:works offers innovative architecture and interior design for discerning clients. All of our projects begin with the establishment of a dialogue with you, out of which design strategies evolve. Major projects benefit from our collective expertise through regular design reviews, which ensure that your expectations are met.
We have expanded to match the demand of contemporary design challenges, incorporating sustainable design, building information modeling [BIM] and integrated project delivery [IPD] expertise gained through exposure to international architectural and planning practice.
The value we bring to building procurement is realised through a sensitive yet sophisticated approach to the aesthetic and functional aspects of design, as well as the technical, financial and contractual management of construction.
By building on these principles, acla:works aims to be the preeminent architectural practice in the Caribbean by 2020 in terms of image, perception, service level and delivery.
“Architecture is the art of humane and intelligent transformation.” (Aldo Rossi)
We are passionate about architecture and its ability to transform the way we live, work, learn and play. Inspired by a contemporary caribbean style, our designs aim to be socially inclusive, contextually relevant and sustainable.
Humans spend 80% of our time indoors, making the internal environment critical to our sense of well-being. We adopt a collaborative approach in our design process, ensuring that your vision is clearly articulated and realised through quality lighting, space and the use of colour and texture. Workplace design is a particular area of focus for us, as the working environment is integral to users’ productivity, efficiency and sense of belonging.
Your sustainability goals can be achieved with us. We explore the principles of green design using passive, contextually appropriate strategies and employ parametric software to analyse the energy efficiency of buildings throughout the design process. We are members of the Trinidad and Tobago Green Building Council and the U.S. Green Building Council. acla:works is also one of the first firms in Trinidad & Tobago to train our staff in the USGBC’s Leed® Green Building Rating System (Leed AP BD+C).
Our clients derive tremendous value from the use of BIM – an advanced and comprehensive integrated project delivery [IPD] design tool that digitally models a building to ensure accuracy throughout the design process. The tool produces construction drawings, identifying installation conflicts at an early stage. This translates into more precise cost-estimating and reduced risk. The virtual building model also permits up-front analyses to be done in 2D, 3D, 4D [time], 5D [cost] and 6D [sustainability].
We participate in design-build procurement projects working with other consultants and contractors through an integrated process to deliver fast-track solutions. Our wide expertise and experience are uniquely beneficial to coordinating complex projects. Clients benefit from over a decade of experience in our use of fully integrated 3D software that allows us to integrate the work of consultants and accurately coordinate data. We also have first-hand experience in operating under management contracting, a similar approach to design-build, whereby construction begins even while design details are still in development.
If you require total project construction services in the region, our strategic alliances with other firms throughout the Caribbean offer single-source integrated project delivery. We work with local architects in targeted islands, and have registered branch offices in Barbados and St. Lucia.
